VictOptics S6 1-6×24 Review: Budget LPVO with Real Range Value
The VictOptics S6 is one of the budget LPVOs that keeps showing up in airsoft, rimfire, PCC and entry-level AR conversations. We checked official specs, retailer feedback, community notes and our own guide records to see where it actually makes sense.

The S6 sits in a practical part of the market: cheaper than most mainstream Vortex, Primary Arms and SIG LPVOs, but more documented than random no-name 1-6x scopes. It is not a duty-grade optic, and we would not sell it as a premium “true 1x” replacement. Its strength is simpler: it gives budget shooters a usable LPVO format, good included accessories, long eye relief and a surprisingly complete feature set for the price.
VictOptics S6 overview: OPSL22, OPSL23 and OPSL33 Fiber
There are three common S6 versions worth separating before judging the optic. OPSL22 is the black matte S6 with the etched-glass VI-CTSIX MIL reticle and red/green illumination. OPSL23 is the Coyote/FDE version with the same basic spec set. OPSL33, often marketed as the S6 1-6x24i Fiber, is the newer version with the VIS-F1 fiber optic reticle and six red illumination settings.
That distinction matters. Many budget LPVOs look fine indoors but struggle outdoors when the reticle illumination is not bright enough. The Fiber S6 is the better story for sunny ranges, airsoft fields and quick 1x work because the center aiming point is easier to pick up.

What it gets right
- Excellent value around the $80–$150 budget-LPVO range.
- Light 15 oz body keeps airsoft, rimfire and PCC builds manageable.
- 4 inch listed eye relief helps with masks, awkward positions and range drills.

Where it is still budget-class
- Do not expect premium true-1x performance or red-dot speed.
- High magnification can show edge softness, dimming or color fringing.
- Fixed 100-yard parallax is not ideal for very close airsoft/CQB use.
- IPX4 waterproofing is fine for range weather, not hard-duty sealing.
- Brand trust and QC perception trail Vortex / Primary Arms.
- Retail pricing fluctuates heavily, so judge it by actual sale price.
Glass, 1x speed and the 6x image
For a low-cost LPVO, the S6’s glass is better than the “toy scope” category. Retailer and user feedback repeatedly mentions clear image quality for the price, and our previous airsoft LPVO research ranked the S6 Fiber highly because it offers enough clarity, weight control and eye relief for field use.
Still, the S6 is not a premium optical system. At 1x, expect some distortion compared with a true red dot or higher-end LPVO. At 5x–6x, multiple community notes point toward visible edge softness, chromatic aberration or focus loss. That does not ruin the optic for airsoft, .22LR or 100-yard range practice, but it should keep expectations realistic.
Best way to run it
Keep the S6 at 1x for movement, use 3x–4x for field observation and target ID, and reserve 6x for slower confirmation. If you buy the Fiber version, the center aiming point becomes the biggest usability upgrade for bright outdoor work.
Reticle and illumination
The older OPSL22/23 models use the VI-CTSIX MIL reticle: a center dot / circle concept with holdover references. That gives it more information than a plain duplex reticle, and it suits airsoft DMR or range-training users who want hold references without paying for a premium BDC design.
The newer OPSL33 Fiber is the version we would prioritize. Its VIS-F1 fiber optic reticle is marketed around bright center-dot visibility, directly addressing one of the most common budget-LPVO complaints: illumination that looks fine indoors but washes out in sun.
Turrets, mount package and handling
The S6 includes features that feel above its price: 1/5 MIL clicks, turret lock, zero reset and a throw lever. The controls are not going to feel like a $700 optic, but the feature list is genuinely practical. For a range rifle or airsoft DMR, being able to mount, zero, lock, and quickly change magnification matters more than spec-sheet bragging.
The included rings are useful, but AR-style users may still prefer a higher cantilever mount. Several retailer reviews mention that low rings can place the optic too low for AR platforms or mask use. If you use goggles or a full-face airsoft mask, plan your mount height before blaming the eyebox.
Best use cases: airsoft, .22LR, PCC and entry AR training
Airsoft DMR / outdoor field
The most natural fit. The S6 gives magnification for lane watching, hit confirmation and target ID, while the 15 oz body stays manageable.
.22LR / rimfire range
User reports and the mild recoil profile make rimfire one of the safest firearm use cases. The 1-6x range is useful from 25 to 100 yards.
PCC / casual carbine
For a 9mm PCC or range-only AR, the S6 makes sense if the budget is tight and you value LPVO training reps over premium glass.
Hard-use duty rifle
This is where we would step up. For serious duty, defensive or harsh-weather firearm use, buy stronger warranty support and proven durability.

Final verdict
The VictOptics S6 1-6×24 is one of the few ultra-budget LPVOs that can be recommended with clear limits. It is not a Vortex Razor, and it should not be sold like one. But for airsoft players, rimfire shooters and range users who want a lightweight 1-6x optic with real accessories, long eye relief and usable controls, it is a strong value pick.
Our pick: choose the Fiber OPSL33 if possible. Choose OPSL22/23 only when the sale price is low enough that value is the main reason to buy.
